This sequel introduces several new Chimeran enemies with a host of new powers. View larger. | Resistance 2 takes up right where the Resistance: Fall of Man left off. Hale is kidnapped by a black ops group in London and forced to Iceland for research testing. The full scope of what happens in Iceland is a mystery, but the game reveals that as Hale wrestles with the insidious Chimera war machine, he must also battle the virus raging inside his body that threatens to transform him into the very creature he fights against. The Return of the Chimera The Chimera are the main enemies of the Resistance franchise. For those new to the story, it is believed that the Chimera are of extraterrestrial origin. Yet, it is known that their army expands by infecting humans with a virus that transforms humans into Chimera while inside a cocoon. These creatures are much stronger than humans, and usually have multiple yellow eyes. They have remarkable healing abilities and thrive in very cold temperatures, which has led them to alter the Earth's climate to a much lower temperature that better suits their habitat requirements. Resistance 2 introduces several new Chimeran enemies with a host of new powers. A few new characters include the Chameleon, a creature that can cloak itself completely and kill a player in one, destructive blow, and the Grim which are a terrifying species that attack in hordes. The Battle Moves to the United States After the brief opening scenes in London and then Iceland, game play jumps ahead two years and across the globe to San Francisco. Giant, mile-long motherships slowly cruise through the skies demolishing the city with fiery beams. Burned and mangled, it appears that there will be little to no survivors. As the battle continues across the United States you're sure to encounter many new, deranged, and much more powerful enemies. In Chicago, you'll be joined by a squad of soldiers all carrying different weapons. To survive and move through the level, you'll need to work together moving from cover to cover, setting up your squad in a smart and defensive manner. These are just a few examples of the challenging levels you'll encounter as you battle your way across the country to save mankind. And if you're hoping for new weapons, Resistance 2 won't leave you disappointed. The US-based campaign is loaded with tons of new weapons to enhance the overall game play and first-person shooter experience. Online game play Goes BIG Powered by Insomniac Games' third-generation PlayStation 3 technology, Resistance 2 delivers several console gaming breakthroughs. Most impressive are the stand-alone, class-based, online co-operative campaign mode that can accommodate up to eight players, and the mind-blowing, 60-player, squad-based online competitive multiplayer battle fest. This unprecedented 60-player option could revolutionize online multiplayer game play, and is sure to provide countless hours of action-packed fun. Collector's Edition is Loaded with Extras Resistance 2 Collector's Edition is loaded with extras that are sure to impress even the most die-hard fans. This special collector's edition comes with an exclusive 5.5-inch Chimera Hybrid action figure that's packing a Bullseye weapon. The package also includes a double-sided Resistance art book that covers a war-torn America from two unique perspectives, and a bonus DVD that includes exclusive commentary, in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer skin, a Behind the Scenes video, and lots more.
Resistance 2, set in the United States, is loaded with new weapons, enemies, and an unprecedented online gaming experience.

Good sequel November 29, 2008 hanselthecaretaker 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first Resistance was a killer launch title, and had it come out at the time the first Halo did it would've had a similar impact on console fps'ers in my opinion. Resistance 2 improves upon that game in just about every way. More action, a tighter, more focused campaign, excellent multiplayer modes, and some spectacular visuals. Sound has also been improved. The couple areas where the game lacks are in visual consistency. The game has a much larger scope and scale to it compared to its predecessor, and maybe some blatant low res textures in the environment can be forgiven because of this. But they do stand out like a bit of an eye sore since the rest of the game looks so good. Cars are a good example, although this may be because they are destructible. The other complaint is the story just doesn't seem as compelling as the first, and doesn't really pull the player in. It's kinda just there because it has to be. I suppose it helps move the game along faster but I liked the narration of the first, and the characters seemed more interesting as a result. All in all if you liked the first at all or are looking for a good shooter on PS3 you really can't go wrong with this game. It's the best shooter on the system so far by far.
Resistance 2 November 29, 2008 Eric Welty (South Korea) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having been a big fan of Resistance: Fall of Man, I was very much looking forward ti the next installment of the series. Boy, was I very much disappointed. As far as the story goes, it picks up right where the first one left off, then jumps 2 years ahead. The story just seems to want to just jump around, show us nice locations without any real meaning for why I'm there except to just kill this bad guy. The gun play feels worse than the first one, the graphics are improved over the first, but still not as good as they probably could be. and it just lacks one essential element that made the first game, or any video game for that matter, worth playing. and that is FUN. the game just isn't any fun. and Sony and Insomniac did some wrong things by releasing certain footage of the game. it made those moments not so dramatic when they occurred. and the boss battles are just kinda lame. they are easy and just kinda....end with not real "oh wow, i cant believe i just got through that" factor. If you want a FPS, this, for me, isn't the one to get. but if your interested in the continuing struggles of Nathan Hale and humanity, go ahead, pick this one up, but i suggest just getting the regular edition.

My son conquered Resistance 1, and was so excited about Resistance 2. I watched him play and several times almost jumped out of his chair. Many surprises in this one.
Reviewing collector's edition November 21, 2008 P. Saini (New Jersey) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm not reviewing the game, rather the collector's edition. I have to agree with the others that say this collector's edition is not work the extra money. It just feels cheap. The box can and will crease/tear eventually, the figurine is made of pretty low quality plastic, and the book is really not that amazing. FYI: I usually only buy collector's /limited editions of games, but I wish I didn't this time around. It's a great game...great game and multiplayer. Just save your money and buy the regular edition. If you must have this edition, just be patient, amazon will drop the price of this item.
A Must Have! November 7, 2008 A. Chan 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a must have for any PS3 owner or anyone who is considering to buy a PS3. It has improved a lot and I just love it. It's more challenging as Insomniac focused on scale, so you'll see larger enemies and more enemies on the screen. The Collector's Edition is worth the money. It comes with a bonus BD disc and these discs cost around 15 bucks, a book, action figure and a multiplayer weapon. If you add all these up... it is well over 80 already. If you think it's too expensive, you can choose the Bill Me Later option to save 10 bucks. It is just 10 dollars more if you purchase the Collector's with Bill me Later.
