Amazon.com Crunch, a New York-based gym, keeps bringing innovative and hip exercise videos to VCRs across the country. You don't have to be in a metropolitan area to experience cutting-edge fitness trends and formats because Crunch: Yoga Mama delivers an effective (and chic) pre-natal workout that can be done in the comfort of your living room. Instructor (and pregnant woman) Sue Elkind leads this 40-minute workout with concise descriptions and a healthy knowledge of yoga as it relates to pregnancy. The content here provides a workout that is both safe and efficient, with great attention to participants' individual fitness levels. This session is presented with a backdrop class (consisting of women in various stages of their pregnancies) that demonstrates modified and more challenging options to each pose. Pregnant participants may find it more appropriate (and less annoying) to take direction from another pregnant woman rather than an ultra flexible, ultra thin (non-pregnant) instructor. Basic postures within yoga are taught with intensive focus on breathing, flexibility, and the constant connection between mind/body (and mother/child). Some poses are altered to accommodate the roundness of the midsection with constant awareness of spine alignment. Elkind gives special attention to balance as she slowly increases the intensity of postures. After a series of basic poses are performed, Kegels are practiced (which strengthen the pelvic floor), and meditation closes out the workout. This basic format is friendly for beginners, pre- and post-natal women, or anyone who requires modifications. This safety-conscious video offers a simple, straightforward workout with real potential for increased strength and flexibility. Props needed: a blanket or pillow, a mat, and (especially if you are expecting) a chair. --Olivia Voigts

Waste of time November 10, 2008 Mum x 2 (Aus) This DVD is hopeless, and too easy even at 40 weeks. You dont even get a basic stretch out of it. The instructor is so fake, it drives you mad. Definitely try another DVD.
Relieves Pressure...I love this CD October 22, 2008 pregs (Portland, OR) I started using this CD when I was about 5 months pregnant. The weight of the baby was starting to put a lot of pressure on the lower half of my body. I noticed that when I was consistent with the yoga, my back hurt less and the pressure was eased on my bottom...it even relieved the hemorrhoids! When I wasn't consistent, the back problems and the rhoids returned. I will say this, when I first tried this video, I thought it was kind of lame and that the moves really didn't do much for me...I was SO wrong. Although I love the CD, I did not rate it with 5 stars because it is a little slow and there's too much hippy talk. But I totally recommend this CD.
Wonderful way to keep relaxed September 24, 2008 Happy Belly (East Texas, USA) I just bought this DVD and loved it. If you are still maintaining a hard-core workout mentality, this is not the DVD for you. However, if you are accepting of your changing body and priorities, then this is perfect! The DVD shows you how to properly breath, relieves stress and aches/pains associated with an expanding body. Its focus on overall wellness during pregnancy, including listening to your body on a day-by-day basis. I use this DVD and also walk a couple of times a week and this combo has helped me stay healthy, properly gain weight and stay tuned to the miracle that is pregnancy.
yoga mama August 15, 2008 Diana Clark (Conway, AR) This is a very good video. The instructor gives good direction, including modifications and, very important, advises participants not to push yourself or do anything uncomfortable for you. It is a complete program, but a "do-able" length (45 min).
Love this DVD! August 5, 2008 Theresa Anderson (Allen, TX) At first I thought this DVD would be cheesy but I really like it. The exercises are fairly easy to do and it really helps once you get into your 6-7th month.
