Great when he was young January 2, 2008 Lefty Mom (Atlanta, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We LOVED this when our little boy was a few months old and did it daily. It was great until about 5 or 6 months, then he got too restless to sit still and kept trying to watch the TV. I ended up doing using the techniques I had learned on my own in a different room. We liked the music, too. I wish you could turn off the narrative, though. After a few times, I didn't need the description anymore and would have liked to just listen to the music.
Nice video, but I like lots of info and details. January 14, 2006 R. Mccloskey (Wisconsin) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a nice video and well done. I personally prefer Aimee Ketchum's DVD. She gives a LOT more info, and I'm craving information on anything to do with my baby. There's a lot more to learn than what's on this video. It is well done, but I would buy it used and not pay full price.
great even for massage-resistant babies January 9, 2006 Serendipitous Journey (Califronia, United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought Baby Tata because I'd tried massaging my baby using instructions I found in several books and online articles, but he often got cranky partway through. Fortunately, he loves Baby Tata! and now I know how to give him a good massage even without the video. The DVD contains an intro (which I've never bothered to watch), a 22-minute routine and a 10-minute routine. The 10-minute massage has different strokes than the longer one, which I like since it can be used for variety as well as for when you have less time. Both routines are accompanied by video and voice-over guides to the strokes, with music in the background, and after a stroke is introduced the screen will show lovely, simple cartoon images while you repeat the massage movement. My infant loves looking at the cartoons, and at the babies in the video. There are also three or so karaoke-style songs, incorporated into the massages, that you can skip straight into from the menu. Especially helpful is the instructor's mellow approach to massage. She tells you which strokes babies are most likely to resist at first and encourages you to hold and play with your baby if he or she gets uncomfortable. This inspired me to do the back massages with my baby sitting up and leaning over my leg; previously, I'd not been able to give him a back massage without him fussing. Also, in several images the baby is playing with a bright stuffed toy during the massage. This trick has been invaluable to me. After watching the video, it is easy for me to slip massage movements from Baby Tata as well as other sources into our daily routines. I was very, very happy to be able to incorporate infant massage into my baby's care and can't recommend this video highly enough.
Great for quality cuddle and play time with baby! September 11, 2005 Stella G's mom (New York USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I do Baby Tata with my 8 month old every day and she loves it. We alternate between the 22 minute Tata full and the 10 minute Tata mini so that we don't get bored. Another reviewer commented that the moves are too simple but I have a Baby Massage Book and it is hard to practice it when you have a squiggly baby and hands full of massage oil and you need to turn the pages in the book! Baby Tata uses the best of the massage strokes I learned from the book anyway. And Baby Tata isn't just massage - my daughter loves to look at the babies on the screen, when I sing along with the songs (they are karaoke style so that you can sing along) and she likes the little games and exercises too. It may be coincidence but ever since we started doing Baby Tata my daughter has slept through the night. Hooray for Tata!
My Baby Slept for Hours! August 1, 2005 mary (chicago, il) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just wanted to tell everyone that this DVD is great. Although it does not claim that the massage will definitely improve sleeping for my baby it has! My baby now sleeps for a 4 hours stetch after the routine.
