Nicknamed "the Baby Whisperer" by clients because of her uncanny ability to calm infants, Britain's baby expert Tracy Hogg offers her unique infant communication approach in this 74-minute program geared primarily to parents of newborns. With more than 25 years of experience as a registered nurse, lactation consultant, and childcare instructor, Hogg shares her no-nonsense advice with quiet authority in a soothing, reassuring manner. Two dozen short segments or "scenes" cover a myriad of baby basics such as feeding, swaddling, and sleep issues. Interspersed are several Q&A sessions that "listen in" on Hogg's real-life parent support groups as a handful of fledging mums and dads ask pertinent questions and wait for Hogg's brief yet satisfactory answers. For visual learners, the film is an excellent tutorial offering step-by-step diapering, breastfeeding, and bathing techniques. It tries to cover many subjects well enough to help first-time parents gain confidence and perspective. For more comprehensive coverage of typical infant problems (excessive crying, sleepless nights, etc.) and their solutions, Hogg's book is recommended as a complementary companion. --Lynn Gibson

Another mislabled product. The description gave the impression that this was a Saunders movie. Got it. Tossed it.

1 out of 5 stars What was that about??   March 9, 2008

This video was a waste of time. I had read a little bit about The Baby Whisperer on their forum and had heard from several friends that The Baby Whisperer gave some good tips on baby body language.

The video was VERY superficial about Tracy's key acronyms (EASY and SLOW). Tracy would start off talking about something and then would be interrupted by a very random 'Parents Questions and Answers' segment. The questions/answers had no sense of order or focus.

I did not learn anything from watching this video and would like my hour+ of time back from watching it!

If you want to sleep, this is the way to go. Bought it for the wife but both reaping the benefits.

3 out of 5 stars Good if you are a new parent   January 5, 2008

In preparation for our child's arrival we read too many books and didn't watch enough videos. This one and the Harvey Karp video would have saved us a few extra nights of lost sleep if we had seen them before the baby was born. If you've already been around babies a lot, this DVD probably won't teach you much. I really like Hogg's general approach and manner. That said, the script and production on this video are a bit too hokey.

I thought it was too rigid and I was a little disappointed.
