3 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits, the "official" bootleg   November 29, 2008

I already owned some of these music videos on other DVDs and previously from iTunes, but I really wanted to get this DVD to finally have all (or most) of RBDs videos in 1 convenient place. Where is "Beseme sin miedo"? That is 1 of my favorite RBD videos. Also note that whatever you see listed is exactly what you get and nothing more.

I really, really wanted to love this DVD, honestly!

I have reviewed many of the recent RBD DVDs and sadly when it comes to picture quality, To EMI/Televisa quality just doesn't seem to be much of an issue. While "Live in Rio" represented their best effort quality-wise, sadly this DVD and the recent "RBD: La Familia are totally lacking.

FYI, if you only have a 27" or smaller SDTV (standard definition TV) none of what I am saying will probably affect you. But if like me you pretty much only watch a larger sized HDTV plasma or LCD this DVD is 1 heck of an eyesore to look at. Also note that the picture on my copy of this DVD and the 1 I have seen in stores does not resemble the cover picture shown here on Amazon. The copy sent to me has the same picture as the co-released RBD Greatest Hits CD.

For starters this DVD is (of course) non-anamorphic. Basically this means that although most of RBDs videos were produced in some sort of letterblox, if you have a fancy looking modern widescreen TV you will only see a small rectangular picture in the center of the screen cropped by black bars all the way around. Even though most modern TVs and players can zoom in you will be hesitant due to the already very poor and lacking picture quality. The music video from RBDs "RBD Live in Hollywood" concert looks halfway decent, but not even as good as that orginal DVD release. The "Empezar Desde Cero" video also looks barely acceptable. But the picture of "Inalcanzable" looks horribly washed out.

I originally watched most of these videos on the channel mun2 via standard cable and they all seriously looked a lot better there. Also the iTunes versions I purchased about 2 years ago also looked better. This DVD edition looks like a bootleg your nephew might have made for you himself as a Christmas present. So I guess if you'd be satisfied by that you'll be satisfied by this.

Why don't EMI or Televisa ever care enough to get these things right for the fans?
