Product Description
"The Plug Lady" is a campy dark comedy staring the raunchy on-stage persona of a young man who moves to New York City to become a famous drag queen. As the Plug Lady, (Anthony Saladino) gains infamy at a drag cabaret his dreams become realized while a devoted following is witness to the transformation. It is at this time he begins a tumultuous romance with a "bald, buff and bangin'" drug dealer, that our now leading "lady" realizes being a woman does not make his life any easier. Will he become unplugged and find "herself" before he is found out?

" The Plug Lady"

A Disaster--One Star is one too many

Amos Lassen

I have watched some really bad gay themed movies in the last few years but "The Plug Lady' is now at the top of my list of the worst ever. There is not even a hint of promise here. I have always considered myself to have the ability to look beyond low budget production values (bad video quality, poor sound, etc). "The Plug Lady" has them all and to make it even worse there is absolutely nothing of substance here. The lead drag queen has no talent, the script goes nowhere and I wonder why anyone even dared distribute garbage like this. (I can't believe that I have actually used the word garbage because I never pan anything). I kept hoping that it would be better. I am not really wild about drag shows but "Girls Will Be Girls" and "Die Mommy Die" changed my mind somewhat. "The Plug Lady" does not even have a good laugh.

You can always look beyond low budget production values (e.g: bad video quality, mismatched sound, this film's got 'em all) when there is something of substance, poignancy, or some talent behind it. Look behind this poorly executed vanity film's tattered curtain and you will find a unfunny, untalented, and unattractive drag queen who calls herself The Plug Lady. Films like Girls Will Be Girls and Die Mommy Die are the Citizen Kanes of this genre. TPL could not qualify for Mystery Science Theatre. Lypsynka, Lady Bunny, Varla Jean and RuPaul should get together and burn TPL's wigs and pumps and outlaw her from calling herself a drag queen!
