Amazon.com This curiosity from the mid-1970s is breathtaking in its dreadfulness. Directed by Hal Needham, this was an attempt at creating a Roadrunner cartoon with live actors--except that instead of a live actor they got Arnold Schwarzenegger, before Hollywood smoothed his rough edges (and his Austrian accent). He plays the invulnerable sheriff who rides blithely through life, unaware that the evil Kirk Douglas wants to kill him and kidnap his squeeze, Ann-Margret. The stunts are cartoony without being funny and Schwarzenegger shows exactly why he was known as "the Austrian Oak." Douglas works extra hard but effort alone isn't enough to elevate this script. --Marshall Fine

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen December 30, 2008 Dan Grogan (Rancho Palos Verdes, California) This will be the strangest roll you ever seen Kirk Douglas play. He does a truly great job as the villain. This movie is a cowboy roadrunner cartoon. This is a great movie for the entire family.
Rather sad December 16, 2008 P. Skalisky (Sacramento, CA USA) This movie was recommended by a friend and so I was expecting it to be good. First it is not my sense of humor but mostly I just felt sad for Kirk Douglas having played the role in the first place. Paul Lynde stood out and the rest did an okay job for what they had to work with. The horse however was great and well trained. Frankly, I couldn't wait for it to end and Schwarzenegger as the "handsome stranger." Give me a break!
Arnold in a western comedy? November 10, 2008 Jason A. Whitbey (Russellville, AR USA) This is a western/comedy as good as Blazing Saddles or Maverick. And oddly enough, it has Arnold in it?! But don't expect his favorite catch phrase "I'll be back". This is much older than Terminator.

Screwball Comedy March 29, 2008 Shirley M. Sandoval (Indiana, USA) Slapstick comedy that keeps you laughing from beginning to end. Definitely a movie that could be watched over and over again for a marathon of laughs.
