Great fun, even with some low quality material. May 11, 2007 Andre Villemaire (Canada) Some of the trailers are scratched up and look pretty bad, but some of them are in great shape, better than some of the ones ive seen. To all you 50's to 60's creature / monster movie lovers, this should bring back some memories. I have all the movies mentionned in my collection, and its great to see the trailers for them. This product received a 3 star due to the extra material....get this...they have some on the set stuff, when they were filming the movie, the Land that Time Forgot. I was impressed. Good for multiple viewing...
Ruined by very poor source materials March 25, 2004 Frederick Brown (Melbourne, Australia) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great collection, I find trailers like these hilarious, the outrageous headlines, the over the top commentaries just crack me up. The only problem with this collection is that they've been sourced from very poor material, no effort at all has been made in restoring them. I've seen some of these in a lot better condition on other DVDs. If some sort of restoration effort had of been made I would rate this 5 stars, until then it only gets 2. I hope next time they release a collection that concentrates on 1950's and 1960's B-grade science fiction trailers with an effort made in restoring them.
"Trailers rule...Monsters drule" March 12, 2004 Brian C. Lawton (Brooklyn, New York United States) I couldn't wait for this dvd's release. Packaged like an Aurora toy kit from the 1970's This disc represents the top 50's list of every beast to swim, crawl, fly or hop across the silver screen. The quality as always with a collection of this sort runs from great(Tarantula, The deadly Mantis are fairly decent prints)to not so great ("Mighty Joe Young","King Kong" showed video lines and scratches) But there were equally a great deal of surprises like"The beast of hollow mountain", "Goliath and dragon" and the rare "Mothra" teaser. Also a operation plumpbob documentry showing the real side of atomic testing via '50's bombtest footage & 2 other featurettesI can't imagine why "Allday" would put a non giant title like the "She creature / It conquered the world" double feature instead of say "Frankenstein conquers the world" or "The giant claw" but I suppose they had to use what was avaliable. Maybe with luck this disc will spark the movie mogels to put more of these great films onto dvd.
The Monsters Are Loose! May 9, 2003 STEPHEN W YANKOWICH (Plainfield, NJ United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
ALL MONSTERS ATTACK! is a great collection of sci-fi/horror trailers and extras: Movies that "baby boomers" like myself remember watching on TV and in theaters as a kid! Giants and human-sized monsters run rampant! The overall quality is excellent, keeping in mind the source material is not digitally remastered. There are but a few trailers that are really lacking in picture and sound quality, but the contents of this DVD are priceless! B-movie fans and Godzilla/Kaiju enthusiasts are in for a real treat! OPERATION PLUMBOB could have been omitted from this collection... Unless one was a student learning about nuclear energy back in the 1950's, one may find this short film rather boring. It could have been replaced by perhaps two or three more theatrical trailers, such as the one for FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD. Now there's a movie that should be put on DVD! Or perhaps the trailer for VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS, which contains the classic line, "Shoot anything with hair on it that moves!" All in all, ALL MONSTERS ATTACK! is quite enjoyable. Recommended!
Big Monsters = Big Fun March 17, 2003 A. Gammill (West Point, MS United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Here's a real treat for us classic monster and sci-fi fans. Check out that cover art--it's a replica of an Aurora plastic model kit that many of us recall from childhood.Fifty creature feature trailers will keep you occupied for awhile. Among the highlights: KING KONG, SON OF KONG, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, MOTHRA, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, THEM, DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, THE BLOB, THE KILLER SHREWS (darn funny trailer). Many, many more, including the wonderful Sinbad films. As you might expect, the quality of the clips varies greatly. Overall, the picture and sound quality is acceptable. The 1950's nuclear safety film is a hoot! If you like these kind of films, you really should add this one to your collection. Even if you could never sit through some of cheesy flicks represented here, the trailer compilation is a fun party disc. Recommended.
