In the third season of Angel, the titular vampire with a soul was forced to stand alone thanks to the (temporary) death of his beloved Buffy and her show's move to a new network, with no crossover between the two allowed. He returns from seeking peace in a demon-haunted monastery to find the L.A. Angel Investigations team fighting supernatural crime in his absence. Fred is still haunted by the nightmare dimension from which they rescued her; Cordelia's visions get ever more painful and debilitating. The schemes of the evil law firm Wolfram and Hart become every more imaginative and dragon lady Lilah Morgan becomes even more of an enemy when lusting after Angel. Unbelievably, Darla, Angel's vampire sire and lover, turns up, pregnant with his child and is tortured by inexplicable motherly feelings as well as a raging thirst for human blood.

For a few episodes things go pretty well--but Angel's enemies, both those he has made in his quest for redemption and those he made when he was unadulterated evil, are still out there. Stephanie Romanov comes into her silky own in this series, making Lilah Morgan all the more seductively evil because she is clear about the choices she has made; the satanic law firm of Wolfram and Hart are this show's most inspired creation. As the season moves to its close, Wesley (Alexis Denisof) has hard choices to make. The devastating climax is compulsive viewing, and this season also contains one of the most impressive single episodes of the entire show: in "Waiting in the Wings," writer, director and creator Joss Whedon comes up with a classic ghost story as Angel and his crew go to the ballet and find a performance that is literally timeless. --Roz Kaveney

5 out of 5 stars Another great season   December 29, 2008
Brancilene S. Araujo (Aracaju, SE, Brazil)
After almost five years I'm still sad the show ended. Why!? Because of a season like 3. Sure, David was not getting any younger, but two more season would have been great... at least we have After the Fall. In this season Angel had to deal with a lot of things: death of a beloved, fatherhood, betrayal, losses and love. He had to feel more human emotions than in any other season in his or in Buffy's time. The way it as written made us know much more of the man behind the brooding guy, we could relate to every one of these emotions and feel sorry for the characters in the season. It felt real, it was real. In the end, we had a human vampire, not only a vampire with a soul... or a show. He had to grow up. Besides, another character in the show suffered a 360 change. What to say!? Wonderfully cast and written, it is one of the two ever shows in TV... of course, the other being Buffy.

4 out of 5 stars Angel Final Season   December 16, 2008
K. Ibrahim (Kansas)
I am saddened with the end of the season, but overall the built up to the final series is good, especially the interaction between Angel & Spike, which is golden. I would prefer a more definite ending. All in all a very excellent TV series and one of the year cult phenomenon.

5 out of 5 stars angel   December 13, 2008

The product was delivered in great time and the product was perfect for my daughter's birthday present. The source of the advertisement was clear and precise. Now my daughter informs me she would like the Buffy episodes, so I will need to slowly over time get this series.

1 out of 5 stars angel   November 8, 2008

okay the first season of angel, very good, great cross-over's with buffy. second season, had some excellent- in fact, i'd say some of the best of the show- episodes. but season three as far as i'm concerned was the start of the downward spiral (season four was worse, and season five is only worth buying if you enjoy as i do the sparring of angel and spike, but really that's the only redeeming thing in it). season three has angel acting like an idiot half the time, and the whole conner plot in seasons three and four just gives me a headache. it's BAD. and cordy goes from being this funny chick providing comedic relief with her ditzy-ness to being this "being" of good, blah blah, love interest for angel... ?????? no true buffy fan could possibly approve of that. her character becomes completely uninteresting, so that i really no longer care what happens to her. the show starts to take itself waaaay to seriously, and one of the best thing about buffy and early angel is that it makes fun of itself, "dawn's in trouble, must be tuesday," ect. (for those of you who didn't watch the show when it aired, it was on on tuesday nights.) if you want to watch them all for the sake of seeing the whole show and following the entire plot to the end, i would borrow three and four. and then never watch them again. it's just bad tv.
