Product Description Amitys citizens and police chief dread another tourist season with a great white shark near the beach. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 05/23/2006 Starring: Roy Scheider Murray Hamilton Run time: 117 minutes Rating: Pg Director: Jeannot Szwarc
Amazon.com Ushering in the age of the inferior sequel, Jaws 2 was essentially a license to print money. Indeed, the film did very well despite blatantly replicating the plot of Steven Spielberg's original, though to lesser effect. Roy Scheider returns as Martin Brody, sheriff of the small island town of Amity. Just as the beachside resort is rebounding from the previous movie's shark attacks, another great white is snacking on divers and water-skiers. Naturally, the town fathers don't want to confront reality and choose to proceed with a lucrative sailing regatta, resulting in a grisly loss of life. Besides the fact that director Jeannot Szwarc takes an impersonal, workaday approach to the film, Jaws 2 manages to be both stylistically flat and openly cynical about its commercial intentions. Of chief interest here is Scheider's performance, which wisely reflects the emotional fallout from Brody's last trauma in his obsessive behavior here. --Tom Keogh

Good sequal November 19, 2008 Joel Stone (Essex Fells, New Jersey USA) A fun action packed film with a terror beneath the still waters of Amity. Jaws 2 is actually the first Jaws I saw, and I loved it as a kid, because the first was too scary for me too see. I still love them all except for Jaws the Revenge.
Bad idea... November 3, 2008 Colleen J. King (Asheville, NC) This is a BAD idea. No plot that's worth mentioning or charaters that are likable. Skip this, but see the first.
The Return of the Sea Monster August 23, 2008 Acute Observer (Jersey Shore) Two scuba divers come across a sunken boat and explore it. It is the `Orca'. Then an unseen thing attacks them. Amity has a new hotel for tourists. How could anything go wrong? [But we know what to expect.] Some teenagers discuss their prospects in life, given their class status. Then an expensive camera is found on the beach. Teenagers are playing by the shore. A water-skier attracts unwanted attention. Then there is an explosion on the boat. Chief Brody searches for the missing people. A dead orca washes up on the beach. What killed it? Could a shark be in the waters off Amity? What about the tourists? Chief Brody discovers a missing tourist. The rich investor shows off the sunny beach. Will a false alarm scare prospective customers? Will the town officials lose confidence in Chief Brody? Will the movie play restful music to lull the viewers until there is a shocking surprise? Will another attack scare the viewers? Will a teenager become paralyzed with fear? Will a shark sighting create unbelievable confusion among the teenage sailors? Will the helicopter bring help? Will there be another lull in the story before another shark attack? Can you believe the trick used to end the shark attack? Was this supposed to be a film for teenagers? Will this review ask too many questions? One problem with a sequel is the suspense is lessened. The boy's hair styles date the film. Will we ever see such films in the 21st century? The more limited cast tells of lower production costs.

Not as good as the first one, but worth watching. I am starting to root for the shark.
Not as good as the original. June 23, 2008 B. Nallick (Mpls, MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jaws two is ok, just not great. The shark is still cool, but it's basically the first movie remade poorly. The script is ok, the acting is ok. All in all it's not a must see. If you liked one, you may want to rent this one.
