Amazon.com The turn of the millennium may have been marked by a confluence of over-the-top white rap-rockers, teeny pop pinups, and other musical cartoons, but the Dave Matthews Band continues to buck such trends while drawing a fiercely loyal audience. This first-rate concert, produced for public television, works both as concert souvenir for the faithful and a useful introduction to the DMB's formidable musicianship. Whether or not you relish the songs and singing of the eponymous, transplanted South African at center stage, it's hard to knock the collective power of this supple troupe, which effectively swirls jazz, folk, and world music through Matthews's bluesy pop songs. The 2-hour show features 18 songs, spanning both familiar Matthews originals ("Crash Into Me," "Too Much") and a few choice covers ("Long Black Veil," "All Along the Watchtower"). With reeds and electric violin to spice up the instrumental attack, and a strong backing chorus to sweeten Matthews's own craggy voice, the DMB doesn't need to rely on theatricality; their sense of drama lies more in extended jams that can expose the material's limitations but stoke ardent fans' cheers. The direction and editing are smooth and fluid, and excellent audio recording and mixing are consistent with the group's growing shelf of live albums. Clearly, for the Matthews Band and its fans, the playing's the thing, and they play generously and well throughout. --Sam Sutherland

Great Energy! October 11, 2008 Benjamin Snyder (WV, USA) Awesome show. It gets four stars because I had wished the picture was sharper, but of course this was filmed a while ago. It would be nice if they went back & remastered the picture clarity level. Over all - very sweet & worth having. Buy it!
Excellent Live DVD! June 12, 2008 J. Luckado (Roanoke, VA United States) This is my first live Dave Matthews Band DVD, so I can't compare it to the other ones out there for them. However, I can say that this is a real treat to watch! As a Dave Matthews Band fan, I will say that this live DVD is a must-have for fans! The production quality on the video side is (slightly) sub-par, but you have to remember that this concert was recorded before the age of HDTV... but really, aren't you getting this DVD for the sound? Which, I must say, is stellar!!! The 5.1 surround is incredible, and very enjoyable for those of us that own surround sound entertainment systems. Like DMB? Get this DVD!
"One Sweet DVD!" March 24, 2008 M. Grant (WA State) I have 5 DVDs of the DMB concerts and watch them several times a week (running on treadmill). This is probably the best of the 5. The songs are a little older and the video footage isn't near the quality of the Radio City concert but the true DMB fan will not be let down. Sound quality is great, song selection is a good mix and it is a true representation of "being there." Enjoy.
Great dvd! January 26, 2007 Claudia Nascimento (Brazil) Although a big DMB fan, I don't always like the live dvds of the band but this is a great one. The different camera position allows you to watch the concert from different views. Great!
Come on, it's Dave! January 19, 2007 Eva Rebecca Moore (South Carolina) Great dvd. If you like Dave Matthews then this should be in your collection.
