Still has what it takes April 8, 2008 Rock n Roll Fan (Tallahassee, Florida) Tommy James still has what it takes to put together a wonderful rock n roll performance of his greatest hits.
Not lip-syched? Then explain this.... April 12, 2007 R. Knight (Ontario Canada) First the good: great sound, great selection of songs. Good picture, although the brick wall of the Bitter End takes away from the visual appreciation of the band. Now the bad: check out the song "Mirage", Tommy's voice continues holding the note even when he is away from the mic, and I mean a long time. This pops up a number of places in the song which means that maybe the concert wasn't lip-synched, but in the final edit overdubs where probably made. This is especially apparent with the annoying crowd noises of people cheering throughout the DVD yet there are no corresponding visual images (the same problem as with the Spirit live DVD, although not as bad here). I rented this and plan to buy it, despite the sloppy and numerous overdubs. It's an exciting show and very well-played, well, maybe too well, but that's a quibble only costing one star. Enjoy.

If you love Tommy James, then you'll love this DVD! I was very excited to see it and it doesn't disappoint! The audience is laid back because of the small, intimate club Tommy played at, but the music sounds great, and it's cool to hear inside information about the tracks...like how certain songs came to be, how "Mony, Mony" got its name, etc. For example, did you know that Tommy James and the Shondells unknowingly passed on appearing at Woodstock? Thank Goodness it didn't hurt him one bit! I just saw Tommy in New York at the Norfork Theater in Westbury. He was fantastic! That guy doesn't miss a beat and he sounds as good as he did 40 years ago! Buy the DVD!!!

I was somewhat dissapointed in this disc with the sound. It is weak and empty in spots. The song list could be improved also. All and all it sounds like it did in the day, so I can't ask for anymore from them. It could be that I expected more sound after watching the new "Queen and Paul Rogers dvd" and that isn't fair. I'll watch it again it might grow on me.
Wonderful blast from the past! February 19, 2006 lighten_up_already2 (Kirkland, WA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This concert was recorded at a small club, not an arena. You get a high quality image and an very "up close and personal" feel. And, all the hits I remember are on this concert. If you are a fan of Tommy James, this should definitely be in your DVD collection, and hopefully played through a good sound system when you watch it.
