WOW December 12, 2008 Mary S. Blanchard (Charleston, SC) Fabulous show.Saw the same show in Charleston, SC earlier in the year. I only wish they had included the two new songs they played in Charleston(Chasing the Rainbow and Indian Summer.) If you have not bought the new CD, Here & Now, do so. It has them live in 2007 and 12 great new songs. Teddy
Excellent October 19, 2008 Maurizio Merli Very good video definition, and nice close-ups: guitar players (like I am) will love seeing details of the chords! Their voices and personalities make the rest: a great concert, with their reknowned masterpieces plus a few songs never heard on stage. There's also some good extra content: the filmed radio interview with Gerry is sweet and funny, and features a couple of great unplugged songs. A nice piece of interview with Dewey too, although a little shorter than the Gerry piece. I just can't get enough of Dewey. I could listen to him for hours! Fantastic job guys! I was expecting a lot from this DVD, and they went the extra mile. Thank you!

A great concert from beginning to end. A must have for America fans. A few rare tunes here. Well worth the price, sound and video are excellent. You can't go wrong with this DVD.

Koch Vision and Soundstage presents "AMERICA LIVE IN CHICAGO" (2008) (77 mins/Color) (Dolby digitally remastered) --- The early-'70s light folk sound that became popular in America was defined by the very band that shared a name with the country that embraced them. America ruled the Top 10 charts of that era with their evocative harmonies and acoustic-styled ... Full Descriptionmusicianship. America's performance on the acclaimed PBS concert series Soundstage features all their greatest hits along with riveting versions of 'California Dreaming' and 'Nowhere Man' - plus an interview with founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell. America owned the charts in the 1970s with their folk-infused pop, and the band now enchants fans once more in this intimate live performance. Filmed for PBS's Soundstage concert series, the remarkable set includes all of America's hits, such as "Horse With No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair," and features a special duet with singer-songwriter Christopher Cross. probably the best of all the AMERICA dvds.....probably September 3, 2008 Richardson (Sunny California USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well...fans of AMERICA ...can certainly pick and choose among about a half dozen DVDs now on the market. As a fan with a reasonable budget and the price of them all reasonable I have them all...and this new one from Sound Stage is certainly a gem...maybe THE gem. Sound Stage have first rate production values...from sound to video and those have both been hit or miss on past AMERICA dvds. The show in Australia seems a bit longer (24 songs)and unlike this set list does include EVERYONE I MEET IS FROM CALIFORNIA which I gather from another reviewer at the show was performed but isn't on this DVD... and with more goodies at 156 total minutes.. but this one also features a long interview with Gerry and a shorter one with Dewey as fun bonuses. The set list is uniformly strong with a few surprises and I actually prefer it to the longer set from Australia which features several songs I'm not familiar with nor a fan of...so in this case less is more for me anyway. bottom line..great first DVD if you don't have any...and great additional one if you do! The bonus DVD Target had from the XM sessions if you bought their most recent CD at that chain is also stunning...worth searching out! enjoy!
