Sounds like what happens when you visit too many off-the-beaten-path sushi shops, doesn't it? Godzilla's Revenge is number 10 in the Godzilla series, directed by the first and best of the Godzilla directors, Inoshiro Honda. Essentially a childhood power fantasy, the film concerns Ishiro (the director's namesake), a youngster whose mind-tripping dreams on Monster Island help him gain the resolve to rout a gang of criminals and the neighborhood bullies who've been plaguing him. Part child's fantasy story, part monster movie with extended battle sequences, Godzilla's Revenge may be one of Honda's most consistently entertaining films, despite the fact that the colorful monster footage is reused from earlier movies. This is recommended fare for the juvenile or juvenile-at-heart. The DVD gives you a choice of cropped-frame or letterboxed in tantalizing Tohoscope, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround or Mono, and some more extras. It is also available in a boxed set with four of the other best Godzilla flicks by director Inoshiro Honda. --Jim Gay

4 out of 5 stars Adventures on monster island   January 7, 2008
Jarrett P. Suhr (Fortlaterdale , Florida, USA)
These types of morality movies always tend to get bad ratings I am not sure why. For your information people there is more that goes into a Godzilla movie than Just explosions and battle scenes. While the plot is kind of cheesy a little boy dreams about visiting Monster Island. Once there he befriends Godzilla talking son Minla(yes Minla speak in English words only in this film don't know why). The boy gets the courage to face his bully Gabra also ironically also the name of a monster in this film that torments Minla in his make believe visits to Monster Island. If that was not exciting enough they went one step further and threw into two bank robbers who made of with 50 million yen. When the boy finds one of the thief's wallet. The thieves panicking that they will be discover kidnapped the boy during one of his dream visits with Minlla. Can the boy name Ichrio use the lesson he learns from Minla to escape from the robbers and stand up to the Gabra that exists in the real world. Back on Monster Island can Minla face his own Gabra the Gigantic monster who is a massive 58 meters tall (190 feet) made up of 23,000 metric tons(25,300 tons of pure muscle and blood and who generates powerful fast moving electrical energy from his arms and power horn. Can Minla and Ichiro face there bullies and be triumphant. Find out in the thrilling and hilarious funny conclusion.

2 out of 5 stars Yes, it sucks, but. but still part of the series.   September 22, 2007

This movie by far is the worst Godzilla film ever made. That's would often be viewed as a good thing sense what I like about Godzilla films is how cheesy they get (Like the flying drop-kick in Godzilla Vs Megalon. Bad but
at the same time classic). However that's not the case in this movie. This
movie is just plane lame (Unless your a kid and by that I mean five). However, it is still part of the Godzilla showa series and if your looking
to complete your collection it's a must have. It's the only reason I bought
it anyway.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible DVD Release For A Terrible Movie   August 8, 2007

I remember i watched it when i was young. So when I saw that it was on dvd i wanted to get it. (remember i was young and i didn't remember how stupid it was.) I thought Godzilla was going to stomp the city. Only in The beginning with some stock footage from destroy all monsters and it wasn't even that long. It was no more than stock footage and poor special effects. I thought that Gabara Could be Cool if He had A Really big upgrade. I saw holes in gabaras neck not like battle holes, but holes that made gabaras roars. really sad. over all poor movie. I'm a kid too and i don't even like it.

I love this movie. It's extremely corny, most of the footage is stock, but it is so entertaining. I think the Godzilla gang really had fun making this one.Minilla is ridiculous, but remember, this is in a kid's dream sequence. His dreams WOULD be made up of stock footage and ridiculous characters, wouldn't they? I think this one is a great big thank you to all the kids who helped make Godzilla famous.

1 out of 5 stars attack of the killer stock footage   June 16, 2006

this is ether the worst godzilla movie ever made or one of the best.(depending on what you want out of it.) Being a Godzilla series fan I gave this movie the closest raiting I could. (please look at what decribes why you want the movie below and get the best rating for you)

IF YOU ARE A GODZILLA SERIES FAN- this movie is a terrable godzilla movie (with a misleading title.)This movie shows you one to two minutes of new godzilla. There is only one new scene with Gidzilla! (the rest is old stock footage from Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster.) The only reason to buy this movie is ether to complete the collection, OR to see one of the funniest godzilla movies ever made. (beating Godzilla vs. Megalon!)My brother and I laffed so hard when we saw this movie because Minya talking is the worst idea i've ever heard. (literally heard.) IN CONCLUSION if you get this movie in a box set (because they always stick this one in there), and are to lazy to put in both Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla, skip ALL of the scenes without Godzilla, turn the volume lower than mute, and crank up some Heavy Metal music (may I suggest Metallica?) because this is not a good moment for godzilla! For a Godzilla series fan I give this movie a -* (negotive star)raiting.

IF YOU ARE GETTING A GIFT FOR A CHILD AROUND THE AGE OF 5 To 8- This a good movie for a small child who (like I used to be) is obsessed with dinosaurs or monsters. This movie has a farely nice message for kids, wrapped up in a watchable package. It teaches your kids to stand up for themselves. For a young child I give this movie a **** (four star) review.
