Product Description Bud Abbott and Lou Costello deliver their "usual high quota of laughs" (The Hollywood Reporter) in this hysterically funny slapstick farce that boasts some of their most beloved comedy bits such as the immortal "Mudder and Fodder" routine!Window washers Ted Higgins and Homer Hinchcliffe (Abbott & Costello) are mistaken for messengers and sent to collect $50000 by a gangster who runs a gambling syndicate. But Homer inadvertently mails the cash to a woman (Cathy Downs) who spends it before they can track her down. Faced with a thirty-six hour deadline to come up with the gangster's dough the desperate trio must act quickly or it'll be their necks!System Requirements: Running Time 77 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: NR UPC: 027616923486 Manufacturer No: 1008317

Not a bad offering from the boys April 3, 2007 Randy E. Halford (Boise, ID) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was quite pleased with this A & C comedy. Made by Eagle Lion Films (which went belly-up years ago) but now distributed under the MGM banner, it's one of the handful of movies done outside their home studio of Universal. I am happy to say that the boys are in top form here. As usual, Bud & Lou do variations on old routines, but the selection is hilarious: The "Mudder & Fodder" bit, the "Mustard" bit, and the "Dress/Undress" bits are performed with panache by sharp-tongued Bud and bewildered, baby-faced Lou. This all rests on the plot foundation of mistaken identity as the boys accidentally mis-deliver a large sum of money which gets them in deep trouble with a gangster (hence the title). And so, it's a race against time as the boys try to beat a 36-hour deadline to recover the dough, with mishaps aplenty. Perhaps not THE boys' best film, but it's slick & funny enough to keep you laughing all the way through.
A PLEASANT COMEDY January 15, 2007 Darren J. Patalon 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"THE NOOSE HANGS HIGH",MAY NOT BE ABBOTT & COSTELLO'S BEST WORK,BUT IT IS FAR FROM BEING THEIR WORST.IT KIND OF REMINDED ME OF LAUREL & HARDY'S FILM "OUR RELATIONS".IT HAD A LOT OF COMICAL MISHAPS,CONFUSION AND MIXUPS THAT KEEP THIS MOVIE MOVING AT A STEADY BUT FRANTIC PACE.THE ONLY MISSING IN- GREDIANT IN MY OPION IS THAT BUD & LOU DON'T HAVE A SET OF TWINS TOO HELP RELIEVE SOME OF THE TROUBLES THAT FALL ON THEM.HILARIOUS IS THE "MUDDER AND FODDER"ROUTINE PERFORMED BY LEON ERROL AND LOU COSTELLO, IT IS A- PRICELESS MOMENT.NOT TO SAY THAT THIS PICTURE AS A WHOLE ISN'T WITHOUT SOME MINOR FLAWS.THE FILM DOESN'T HIDE IT'S STUDIO MAKING SUROUNDINGS,IT ALMOST COMES ACROSS AS AN EARLY TELEVISION SITCOM,WHERE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE ACTORS ARE PERFORMING ON A STAGESET.
Abbott and Costello DVD's that WE ARE ALL STILL WAITING FOR!!! August 4, 2005 M. Melendez (New York City, USA) 14 out of 23 found this review helpful
I have watch these guys all my life. I love them. I have all of their movies on DVD. I order The Best of A&C Vol. 4 coming out on - 10/4/05, but there are still missing some. It Ain't Hay, Lost In A Harem Abbott and Costello In Hollywood, Abbott & Costello Meets Captain Kidd, and The 30 Foot Bride From Candy Rock. I would think whomever own the rights to these would have enough sense to put them on DVD and make money. I sure would buy them....WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR!!!!!
Very entertaining June 29, 2005 Donna H. Winchell (Clemson, SC USA) 9 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a good MGM movie that is still as funny as ever. ABBOTT AND COSTELLO IN HOLLYWOOD, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET CAPTAIN KIDD, IT AIN'T HAY, LOST IN A HAREM, and RIO RITA should also be released on DVD. THE BEST OF ABBOTT AND COSTELLO: VOL. 4 is coming out on Oct. 4, 2005, and it has ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET JERRY SEINFELD, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE KEYSTONE KOPS, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE MONSTERS, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE MUMMY, and THE WORLD OF ABBOTT AND COSTELLO.
