Amazon.com This charming Disney live-action picture is a genuine sleeper. It's a variation on the old boy-runs-away-to-join-the-circus story, except this time the boy is a girl. After she joins a traveling show in the 1930s, spunky teen Sonora Webster (Gabrielle Anwar) learns the ropes and eventually lands a plum role in the program: riding a horse off a 40-foot-high diving board into a tank of water. Well, Sonora thinks it's a plum, anyway. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken has the usual love interest, a brush with tragedy, and some worldly wisdom (the latter doled out by old pro Cliff Robertson, in a nice role as a crusty barnstormer). What makes the movie memorable is the performance of the lovely Gabrielle Anwar, the doe-eyed actress who later danced the tango so memorably with Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. The movie may be sappy--no surprise with that title--but Anwar provides bright star wattage and a plucky role model. --Robert Horton

Love it! October 12, 2008 H. Toohill (VT) The first time I watched this movie I was a little girl in love with horses. I still enjoy this movie and its story of a courageous young girl who is never willing to give up on her dream.
horse movie September 8, 2008 L. Morosi (Salem, NJ) i really thought this girl had alot of courage! jumping a horse off a ramp into the water which is a true story and was done for a while, i have trained horses in the past and own some now and i'm not sure i would want one to fly, so i thought she had alot of well...you know what..... and good for her and of course the brave horse, what an animal!! to do that!! good movie!!
Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken...or Beat! July 20, 2008 Kimm Matyjasik (Tucson, Arizona) This is a great love story. It is very touching and shows people that one can go after their dreams and get them. The love story between two people is a bonus behind the real love story of loving yourself enough to follow your dreams!
Nice movie but book is better June 13, 2008 Mrs. O (Triadelphia, WV USA) Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken This is a good movie but leaves out so much of the real story of Sonora Webster Carver. Sonora's book, "A Girl and Five Brave Horses" is a must read if you can find a copy. The best thing about "Wild Hearts" is that it has gotten people interested in Sonora, a wonderful woman who has inspired many. For those who are interested, there is a group of us who are trying to get the book republished. Go to: Yahoo groups and type in divinghorses. Join us and learn more about Sonora and the divinghorse act.
It will always be my favorite movie! May 18, 2008 S. Sjogren (Seattle, WA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I was a child my Dad rented this movie fore me, because I was in love with horses. Well I fell in love with this emotional and inspiring movie. It became my all time favorite movie... I made my Dad rent it over and over again. Now as an adult I still can't get enough of it, I enjoy it everytime I watch it. The fact that it was based on a true story really gets me everytime. If you haven't seen this movie then you are missing out big time!
