Unbelieveably Fabulous August 23, 2010 Becky Rose (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay, obviously those of us who love Mrs. M, LOVE HER. I went to this concert in Vegas and had to purchse the DVD/CD combo to extend the experience. While the Sticky & Sweet tour was not as impressive as Confessions - it's still an incredible concert.
The DVD is actually better than the concert I attended. It's great for playing in the background if you have a BBQ with friends over, or while cleaning the house. Who wouldn't be motived by Madonna's tunes and fabulous over 50 body? The direction is impressive and the cinematoghraphy is gorgeous - capturing the show with Madonna's super high expectations. She does not dissapoint her fans.
The framing and how they follow Madonna effortlessly is seamless and organic. Better than many of the other taped concerts that are not as miticulously thought out.
The CD is a heart pumping blast from the "Candy Shop" intro to the "Give it to Me" finale. There's not much else that hasn't been said already, except that Madonna truly does give 100% and then some. I'm pleased with my purchase.
One of the best Blu-Ray shows ever August 20, 2010 Marcos V. Kalil Fh (Niteroi, RJ Brazil) I've been able to watch more than twenty different Blu-Rays of shows and, for sure, this one is, if not the best, top-notch. Image and sound quality, the special effects, the line-up, everything is superb. I firmly believe you'll be impressed by this jaw-dropping package.
Madonna Buenos Aires - Sensational August 16, 2010 ViniciosNeves Simply Sensational! I went to the show in Maracanã (Rio de Janeiro)... That regret!
Would like to have testified Madonna singing "Don't Cry for me" in Buenos Aires!
One of Her Better Efforts August 12, 2010 Bryan A. Pfleeger (New Orleans, LA) Madonna has always been innovative in her live shows. That she has released several over the years is a testament to her changing style. Always well done, always slightly controversial always fun. The Sticky and Sweet Tour was no exception.
Recorded in Argentina the video presents the complete concert with lots of cutaways to fan reactions. The song selection for this show relies a little more heavily than I'd have hoped on her newer material. The remixes of some of the older material provide unique interpretations of songs like Into the Groove and Borderline while the audience sing along on Like a Virgin was kind of unexpected.
The BluRay release is a little short on extras providing only some backstage material. This is a fun package that is well worth owning for fans of the singer or her music.
No one's gonna stop her now! August 7, 2010 rodjoh (pma) One of the stops in Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour was at Buenos Aires, Argentina. This DVD features the show held there as well as a short documentary on the tour.
The way the concert was edited for this DVD is interesting. A lot of "tricks" were used to make the visuals much more exciting... like imposing the background screen images over what was going on on stage, also using effects like slow-mo at just the right moments. Had we had one still camera looking at Madonna things wouldn't have seemed as fun. Still though, the editing is welcome for entertainment purposes.
Also considering Madonna is not exactly known to have the best live voice ever, it's rather suspicious that all along the concert she maintains a perfect pitch. The cool kids call it "re-mastering" nowadays. Oh well.
But hey, that put aside, this is just a fun concert to watch. The 2 hour show focuses mostly on the songs from Hard Candy, Madonna's R&B influenced album met with mixed reviews. See the Queen of Pop shake her white bootay to Candy Shop, The Beat Goes On, 4 Minutes, Give it 2 Me, Spanish Lesson and more with a crew of phenomenal dancers, lighting effects, and a bunch of energy consuming stuff going on. Also many of Madonna's big hits from all times took a new spin here which was a nice surprise. Songs like Music, Hung Up, Ray of Light, Borderline, Into the Groove, Like a Prayer and Vogue all were here and took some sort of welcome new spin to them.
Madonna seemed to enjoy herself a lot during the show, and at her 50s she is still jumping around like a schoolgirl which says quiet a bit about her physical condition. It's a joy to see this woman on stage and while some would regard that her previous tour was better, which I can't deny, this show is just too fun to dismiss.
This pack also includes a CD which has some tracks from the concert. The selection for the CD is rather weird. They omitted many good tracks. But I guess it's a nice bonus.
