Can't Stop The Music June 4, 2008 Richard Bonnell (Arlington, TX) Very entertaining - brings back fond memories of that era. I think I've seen this movie a hundred times.
Most gloriously gay movie ever! April 26, 2008 Cheri Apple (NJ) This movie is the most magnificently gay movie ever made! To me this movie will always be a happy childhood pleasure that has morphed into a guilty adult pleasure. *NOTES OF INTEREST* In the scene where Samantha is recruiting people for the band, watch her ice cream cone, the flavors swap places at least 3 times. And in the cattle call scene for band talent that is none other than Blackie Lawless of WASP squatting on that piano. Just some fun observations from a life long Village People fan.
This film is like a candy bar... March 20, 2008 TennWill (Dallas, TX) I love steak and I love cupcakes. Can't Stop the Music is a gigantic cupcake and I love it all - especially the cream filling! MMMMmmmmm.
G*A*Y*E*S*T MOVIE EVER! It's so bad, it's good... March 18, 2008 Alex Honda (Los Angeles, CA USA) CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC is such a campy film that it has to be seen to be believed! Based loosely on the actual events that created the real music group "The Village People," the movie follows a song writer Jack Morell, played by Steve Guttenberg, who puts together a male singing group based on macho male stereotypes. Anyway, it's a hoot of a movie filled with double-entendres and lots of images of hot athletic men wearing the tightest short-shorts ever! Viewing the movie now it's hard to believe that this was intended for the general public. The movie includes, what has to be one of the earliest music videos ever, the Village People performing "YMCA" at--where else--the YMCA. A fun movie to watch, just don't expect "Citizen Kane."
A Whole Cast & Crew of People Who are Completely Out of their Minds! March 17, 2008 Sandy Frazier (New York) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
Thank God that era is over! The horribly exaggerated bad acting, the awful clothes and frizzy hair. The dialogue is insane! Everyone in this movie is a dork - goofy, nerdish. Weren't there any decent choreographers in 1979 that could have advised this director? The whole thing is pure torture!
