Ghastly tripe. June 18, 2008 Mr. Eddie (New York, NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I find it fascinating to watch teenage films from the 80s; their values, what it is that kids aspire to...and because most pander to American's sexual repression and cross over into the realm of what I call "ultra" soft-core. Teen Witch is an undiluted relic from this era, a horrific piece of garbage only outdone by truly satanic filth like "Clueless" and "Can't Buy Me Love." There are things that are dated but reveal the charming and sincere aspect of a cultural epoch, and then there are things things like Teen Witch -- with its "rap" musical aspirations and depressingly awful stereotypes. Apart from the botched comedy, fantasy, melodrama... we have a film that aspires to say something about teen angst but says nothing as it is so dishonest and only furthers the repressive, hate-filled environment in its ersatz sentimentality. Joseph Goebbels would have loved "Teen Witch."
This is most ridiculously amazing film EVER--so bad, it's a gem! June 6, 2008 Jaclyn Opritza (NYC) Ok, this movie is awful...but that's why it is so amazing. I put this movie on with my friends and we didn't stop laughing the entire time. Nothing makes sense--nothing. That's why it is amazing. You never know what is going on. Is it a drama? A comedy? Why are they singing? Why are they RAPPING? Who wrote the script? Were they on crack? Who cares?! This movie is the funniest thing I've ever seen. The opening sequence alone is the most ridiculous four minutes that have been captured on film--the two "romantic" leads doing some "sexy" dream-sequence dance that is a combination of Saturday Night Fever and West Side Story, all in slow motion. FOR NO REASON. The soundtrack is out-of-this world. I particularly enjoyed the catchy "I'm gonna be the most popular girl" and "Top That," during which two middle-class white kids, one of whom is dressed like a 40s gangster, have a "rap-off" that trumps anything Vanilla Ice could have pulled off in his wildest dreams. An instant classic. WATCH THIS MOVIE AND YOUR ABS WILL TIGHTEN FROM LAUGHING SO MUCH. peace.
Teen Witch magic April 28, 2008 Lisa R. Green (Perth, Western Australia) Great movie about wanting to be noticed and popular. Teen Witch is magic with a twist. Great 80s soundtrack and gorgeous actors. Dan Gauthier is Hot, Robyn Lively is sweet and Caren Jaye is a joy. Teen Witch is a movie for all ages wishing to relive their school days
Top that! April 20, 2008 Danna (MO, US) I watched this when I was a teen and when I saw it on here I had to get it for nastolgic purposes. It is a silly movie and has a rap in there that will have you peeling over in laughter! Good price, fast shipping, good condition. So top that!
Sweet 80's Movie April 14, 2008 tawniemarie (South Dakota, USA) I just love this movie! It's about an insecure, unpopular, nice girl who becomes a witch on her 16th birthday. Will she use her powers for good or evil? Will everything she sets in motion end up the way she planned? You'll just have to watch and see. Yes, it has some 80's cheese factor, but that's part of why it's so great!
