Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The genre-busting documentary hit that started the flood of issue-oriented documentaries is back just in time for another crazed season of political news coverage in the build up to the 2008 presidential election. The original film is just as relevant and necessary today as it was in 2004 supplemented by over an hour of additional material including the infamous Fox Attacks a series of 16 short videos that continues the work started in Outfoxed highlighting examples of Fox's biased dishonest journalism. The videos were created to support campaigns petitions and legislation."Outfoxed" examines how media empires led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know. Now includes chapter markers (original DVD didn't).Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DOCUMENTARIES/POLITICS UPC: 826262004590 Manufacturer No: 45

5 out of 5 stars How Fox distorts the news.   November 23, 2008
Charles T. Bell (Holly Hill, FL USA)
Well done video, carefully illustrating how Fox News(?) distorts and repackages the news. Fox news has an agendum that is it put the news on the way they want to portray it and only the news they want you to see. The spinmeisters at Fox are unbelievable until you see this movie and the way they will outright lie as well. I highly recommend this movie to all Americans.

5 out of 5 stars Important Documentary   October 30, 2008

This DVD is very helpful to people like me who watch Foxnews (off and on) in progressive disbelief. Number one, how can they get away with the repetitions, the cheesy, self-aggrandising "Breaking News"; the one-note, one pitch, bullying of guests, etc. At this point, I watch Foxnews because O'Reilly has a terrifc show and Alan Colmes is excellent. Also, to maybe catch Hannity being caught with his "pants down" - meaning he can't find his "cheat sheet" - of the same phrases he used ten minutes ago!!.
This DVD helps one to organize his/her thoughts on this full-scale assault on viewers' rights to have something reasonable on the airwaves that the FCC asserts belong *not* to the folks who make 70 billion dollars a year cross-referencing their projects (and the projects of their close friends).
To be "Fair and Balanced", though, I would have liked to have some small credit given to the guys and dolls [no sexism intended] who *are* professional and consistent. The afore-mentioned O'Reilly (who, at times, seems to lose traction and falls back on those "talking points" and who loses control too easily - though I think he erupts mainly when he thinks a guest is trying to mess with him and the audience), Colmes, Geraldo Rivera, Megan Kelly..
It's interesting when the Documentary uses the actual Foxnews technique of rapid slide-show repetition to demonstrate that slogans and phrases, repeated enough, actually numb the brains of the well-meaning correspondents.
Funny that this evening I turned on Fox again (before I switched to Larry King) and was stunned to find two examples of real fair and balanced programming. Bill and Sheppard were outstanding.
Mr. Murdoch, you are a Patriot, no doubt. Please apply your strong beliefs to the Fox network. Please keep an eye on segments like that which can win back viewers. And send Sean to Journalism school.
