| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com essential video The most viscerally frightening and disturbing homicidal maniac picture since The Silence of the Lambs, Seven is based on an idea that's both gruesome and ingenious. A serial killer forces each of his victims to die by acting out one of the seven deadly sins. The murder scene is then artfully arranged into a grotesque tableau, a graphic illustration of each mortal vice. From the jittery opening credits to the horrifying (and seemingly inescapable) concluding twist, director David Fincher immerses us in a murky urban twilight where everything seems to be rotting, rusting, or molding; the air is cold and heavy with dread. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are the detectives who skillfully track down the killer--all the while unaware that he has been closing in on them, as well. Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey are also featured, but it is director Fincher and the ominous, overwhelmingly oppressive atmosphere of doom that he creates that are the real stars of the film. It's a terrific date movie--for vampires. --Jim Emerson
Description A retiring cop and his replacement track a psychotic killer who's using the seven deadly sins as a guide. Starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Like "Saw", but it doesn't suck August 22, 2008 C. Sienkiewicz (Clinton Twp. MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Se7en is a film about 2 detectives trying to solve a murder case where the killer is executing people who he thinks have committed the 7 deadly sins. This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and has the best ending/climax that I have ever seen. This film will also act as a moral compass and make you think about your own beliefs about life, death, and sin. highly reccamended.
"tithe a yellow ribbon round his new humvee" August 19, 2008 B. Lafave (lakeland , fl) sorry , i was saving that one for a review of JOEL's newest book , but i decided since i read all those reader's digest mags while doing laundry and waiting on doctors i could nil afford , i'd skip that volume . in summation , MORGAN FREEMON was born to play detective sommerset . FINCHER is a great filmaker ("ZODIAC" , "THE GAME" , "PANIC ROOM" , "ALIEN 3") . PITT turns in one of his better performances and SPACEY delivers like a half-hour-pizza-team-member . buy it already . OSTEEN's next book ? perhaps "MEETING YOUR (MONEY) MAKER" ?
Fear times 7 August 7, 2008 B. Bates (Santa Fe, NM USA) One of the most fearful movies I have ever seen. Just outstanding acting and suspense.
a lot of rain and bad acting July 17, 2008 J. Maynard (tempe, AZ) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
all the tortures inflicted by the serial killer in this film pale next to having to watch brad pitt's horrible acting. and brad pitt's acting is better than the script.
Pretty Good Hollywood Hokum July 6, 2008 Bradley F. Smith (Miami Beach, FL) The seven deadly sins exemplified in this serial killer genre flick with a young Brad Pitt and the usual creepy performance by Kevin Spacey as the killer. Black and white cop buddy movies are a dime a dozen, but this one is saved by a decent script and good acting. The end is a gross out, but at least we are spared actually seeing it.
