| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com essential video Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand star as sociopolitical opposites--he's a WASP novelist, she's an activist--who nevertheless strike up a romance in the 1930s, and have a rocky relationship through the next two decades that reflects much of America's history. An essential part of the movie--the Hollywood blacklist and the McCarthy witch- hunt years--comes across as a botch, due to some excessive cutting before the film was released. But except for that hole in the heart of the story, director Sydney Pollack (Out of Africa) has crafted a strong and moving drama about two interesting characters. Redford (always good with Pollack) is at the height of his powers, and Streisand is persuasive. --Tom Keogh

Great movie! October 14, 2008 L. King This is my favorite movie of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had it on VHS but I have been upgrading my movie collection to DVDs.I got this one because it was on sale for a very good price.I would highly reccommend it.
Barbra Streisand: The Way We Were August 17, 2008 Little Lana (USA) Grammy, Emmy, Academy Award and Tony winner Barbra Streisand was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in this 'Perfect' movie. What a performance, what a great movie. The movie has a political edge to it ... such as the 2008 Presidential Primary race, where Hillary Clinton earned more votes than any of her rivals, and earned 311 Electoral votes, to her Party's presumptive nominee's 227 ... 270 needed to win in the November General Election- The Party actually chooses it's nominee on August 28, 2008!!!
"So True To Life" August 8, 2008 Nicole Moore-king (Brooklyn, NY) "The Way We Were" is still true to life today. Divorce in America has become as common as marriage itself. This movie is an example that people can fall in and out of love without degrading each other. The final scene of the movie says it all. If you are in love, have ever been in love, or if you are falling out of love, "The Way We Were" is a must see.
