This step-by-step instruction will guide you through the fundamentals of Kae-Sa-Luk, the ancient Thai art of fruit and vegetable carving. In this innovative instructional series, Kae-Sa-Luk master Pam Maneeratana takes a hands on visual approach to teaching this unique art. Follow along with Pam as she takes you through six different carving projects specifically designed to teach you all the fundamental techniques of Kae-Sa-Luk. In just the first lesson, you will progress from learning basic knife skills of peeling a carrot, to mastering the skills of carving a beautiful carrot pine-cone. Every step in each project will teach you a different fundamental technique to help you build the skills necessary for mastering this dying art. Pam makes learning the techniques easy as she reveals the secret techniques passed on to only a select few masters of Kae-Sa-Luk.
Together with Pam, a little practice, and a little patients, you too can enjoy the art of Kae-Sa-Luk, and make beautiful fruit creations that even the Thai masters will envy.

Projects include:
Lesson 1
- Carrot Pine Cone
- Carrot Leaf
- Acorn Squash Dip Bowl
- Beat Root Rose
Lesson 2
- Watermelon Rosebud Candle Holder
Lesson 3
- Pumpkin Carving

A Note from Pam

This video is the first of a three part series. This first video, "Kae-sa-luk," introduces the most fundamental techniques that everyone must know, learn, and practice in order to carve the way Thai people have been taught for generations.

The second in the series, "The Art of Watermelon Carving," teaches the most advanced techniques that build upon the basic skills. I have discovered many of these techniques myself after years of practicing, since masters rarely reveal such exclusive techniques except to their loved ones.

The third video, "Spectacular Centerpieces," is the most common video. It lays out the basic priciples for creating beautiful centerpieces from fruit and vegetables using minimum carving skill.
