Product Description A young man must stop the lord of darkness from both destroying daylight and marrying the woman he loves. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 05/31/2005 Starring: Tom Cruise Mia Sara Run time: 89 minutes Rating: Pg Director: Ridley Scott
Amazon.com essential video This strange, 1985 experiment by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner) starred the up-and-coming Tom Cruise in a fairy-tale world of dwarfs and unicorns and demons. After the horn of a unicorn is broken, darkness and winter descend upon the world. Cruise's character, helped along by a magic sprite played by David Bennent (The Tin Drum), descends into hell to save paradise. This movie is almost a classic case of art direction gone amok. The somewhat amorphous Cruise doesn't lend much dramatic focus or artistic definition, but the drama between Tim Curry's satanic majesty and Mia Sara's character, who becomes a sort of princess of the netherworld, is pretty captivating. A mixed experience all around that makes one wish it had been more successful. --Tom Keogh

Legend- DVD November 27, 2008 L. turk This DVD was a great buy. I paid an excellent price for "Legend" and was very satisfied with the picture quality. The movie was brand new and in perfect condition. This is a classic old school fantasy flick. It has mythical creatures, fairies, magic and is a timeless tale of good versus evil. You will love the effects, wardrobe, and costumes, as well as the storyline.
Great movie October 21, 2008 Tim A. (Arkansas, U.S.A.) I've had this on VHS for years and finally decided it was time to buy it on d.v.d. Tim Curry plays one of my all time favorite devils.
U.S. version is a more sound movie October 20, 2008 M. Pederson (Minneapolis) Hello, Just recieved and reviewed these two version's of "Legend", I owned the U.S. version on VHS for sometime. And shared with friend's. So now I finally saw the director's cut. And for me and a couple friends this cut didn't really add anything to the story and Jerry Goldsmith's music doesn't enhance the story. Tangerine Dream I feel is way more appropiate for this fantasy tale it fit's the feel of the story It makes it feel more dream-like. That's all Mike
Them's some big horns, Mr Curry October 19, 2008 John D. Aldridge (Waimanalo, Hawaii) Never saw this when it came out years ago, bought the VHS originally to check out another Ridley Scott vehicle. For me, it does project a true fantasy "escape" world. Some incredible sets were made and dressed to create a version of a perfect natural world. Also some dark and forboding sets representing a hell of sorts. The story is sort of an Adam and Eve thing, with the parts played by the young cute people. I was eager to finally see the director's cut, with Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack. Sorry, but it didn't click with me. For some reason it took the experience away from a fantasy escape to a story more based in reality. Maybe the reson I have enjoyed this film over the years (the original) is that it reawakens the small eyes big in wonder boy inside of me. Cruise is young and unformed at this stage. Mia Sara makes a sweet princess, but when she gets dressed up in her "evil" black outfit, all I can say is YOWSA!. I say check it out.
Simply a Gem in my collection. October 13, 2008 Jeannie L. Vega (Norway) Legend, the Ultimate Edition brought back my childhood while allowing me to share it with the next. What a wonderful DVD with both versions of the film and enough extras to satisfy most. This is NOT a movie review (although that too would be high) but a review of this edition. If your research or knowledge of the movie peaks your interest, then this version is right for you.
