5 out of 5 stars Jason's crew reveiw   May 15, 2008

I have loved the movie Jason and the Argonauts since I was a kid. The part where Talos (the bronze statue) comes to life was such an awesome special effect "back in the day." But, my all time favorite part of the movie is when the "skeleton army" comes out of the ground to fight Jason and his crew. That is still a totally cool special effect for me!!! I am really glad that Amazon carries this DVD. Thanks!

5 out of 5 stars Before Clash of the Titans there was the Golden Fleece   May 10, 2008

If you love Clash of the Titans then you will want to see Jason and the Argonauts to witness how stop motion animation would shape Hollywood special effects for decades to come. Not only that, but the Golden Fleece story is a pretty decent mythological narrative to bring to the silver screen and this is a full on Hollywood blockbuster production.

Jason and the Argonauts is great screenwriting along with a character driven story, many of whom are the Gods of Olympus, presiding over Jason who goes on a journey to recover the Golden Fleece to restore his nation's confidence. There are lots of goodies here, from moving metal statues, giant lizards and hydras to the superb skeleton warrior finale that blew everybody away when it was first shown. There are some nice surprise twists and turns in store. You will watch this time and time again. Great entertainment through and through and a triumph for special effects.

4 out of 5 stars One of those Childhood movies I enjoyed   May 6, 2008

Another movie in the Harryhausen collection which I really enjoyed watching and saw in the movies when I was a kid over and over again when they let you see it as many times as you wanted in one day and didn't chase you out.

It's about Jason's quest for the Golden fleece on an island far away but during his journey he has to put up with giant bronze statues, a 7 headed dragon called the Hydra, a traitor in his crew and for the finale, a battle of skeletons made of teeth from the aforementioned Hydra, can't say anything else but this is one of those fantasy films that are definitely worth it for the stop motion animation by Harryhausen and..............stay away from the '2000 remake, it's horrible.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Ray Harryhausen film   March 8, 2008

This is arguably the best film Ray Harryhausen film - just ahead of the Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. The only thing, in my opinion, that let the film down was Nancy Kovack's acting but I couldn't bring myself to mark it down.
