I've always thought this movie deserved higher praise and more general consideration as a classic than it received. Perhaps the reason why it didn't is because the ending is kind of sad; but, that is what makes the movie so powerful, IMHO. I thought the emotions portrayed by Beatty and Wood were very genuine.
The first time I watched this movie, I was a young teenager, and it touched my soul. Watching it now still brings back that "lost love", melancholy mood. I think it's a shame that some people are afraid of those kind of feelings. Evoking them is a good thing, and for me - ultimately reinvigorating.

A nice Romance novel gone bad with a true love. Great for the sentimentalist or for those people who make tough love decisions. Life still goes on after a break-up! Starring Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty.

Natalie Woods play a excellent part of a young High School girl in love with her High School sweetheart, played by Warren Beatty(screen debut)torn by beening respected by her mother's wishes and her human desires. This movie moved her from a child actress to a major player in the movie industry in adult roles.
